FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's tennis team will host Quinnipiac University for their final match of the regular season. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 pm on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
Last time out, the Stags topped Saint Peter's 6-1 on April 17. Fairfield swept doubles play with victories at all three positions. Nicole Aragones and Sarah Stuhlmann earned the win at No. 1, while Cecilia Parla and Meghan Zimmer grabbed the win at No. 2. And in the third position, Karen McKeough and Courtney Connorscompeted for the win.
In singles play, Fairfield won five of the six matches against the Peacocks. Aragones earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1, McKeough fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, and Zimmer won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3. In the final three spots, Connors, Parla, and Meghan Ziegler all grabbed wins for the Stags.
Quinnipiac sits atop the MAAC standings at 5-0 against league opponents. Their most recent win came over Marist who they topped 6-1 on April 17. The Bobcats claimed the doubles point with wins from the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. In singles action, they lost just once, in the No. 2 position.
The Stags currently sit in sixth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings with a 2-4 record in league play heading into the final match of the season.
