FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's tennis team continues their season this weekend hosting Seton Hall at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven. The match against the Pirates is scheduled for Saturday, February 6 at 3:00 pm.
Last weekend, the Stags fell short in their season opener against St. John's. At the number one doubles spot, Nicole Aragones and Courtney Connors fell 6-0. Karen McKeough and Meghan Zimmer dropped their match 6-1 at the number two spot. And at third doubles, Cecilia Parla and Gabriella Campos dropped a 6-1 decision.
Aragones competed at the number one singles and fell in two sets 6-1, 6-2. McKeough dropped two sets to Anna Morozova 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Zimmer dropped straight sets 6-1, 6-0 to Olaya Inclan in the No. 3 spot.
Seton Hall comes in with a 1-2 record overall and a 1-1 record this spring. Last weekend the Pirates fell to Army, 4-3, before topping Binghamton, 5-2. Seton Hall will face NJIT on Friday before facing Fairfield on Saturday. The Pirates are led by sophomore Luize Strike who earned four total victories in doubles and singles this past weekend. Strike dropped just one set in her four matches.
After Saturday, the Stags will next compete against Drexel on Friday, February 12.
