FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University swimming teams split for the second day in a row at a tri-meet. On Saturday, they traveled just up the road to the University of Bridgeport to take on the Purple Knights and Mount Saint Mary. Each team topped Mount Saint Mary with the men winning 77-16 while the women won 79-16. The host Bridgeport was able to power past the Stags beating the men 62-32 and the women 61-33.

Freshman Jordan Rahurahu posted two individual event victories on the day. In the 200m IM he posted a new personal best with a time of 2:13.49 and then in the 100m breaststroke he touched the wall in 1:10.81. He also earned a second-place finish for his role on the 200m Medley Relay with Nick Delfico, Andrew Tavcar, and Ian Nelson. Jameson Duncan had a strong outing with a third-place finish in the 400m freestyle (4:24.59) and a second-place finish in the 800 freestyle (9:03.15). He was also a part of the 200m freestyle relay team that claimed first along with Nelson, Tavcar, and Phillip Zyskowski.

For the women it was once again Colleen Young leading the way. She placed second in the 200m IM (2:32.54) and first in the 100m breaststroke (1:17.52). Betsy Powers put together a strong performance in the pool as well. The freshman placed third in the 200m freestyle (2:21.11) and third in the 100m butterfly (1:11.24). In the final event of the afternoon, the Stags claimed victory in the 200m freestyle relay thanks to Oreoluwa Cherebin, Kristin Kunnapas, Grace Goddard, and Emily Holman.

Both teams will next face off against Marist on November 5 at the RecPlex Pool.
