NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Stef Vickers led the Fairfield University women's cross country team on Friday afternoon at the CCSU Mini-Meet. The race at Stanley Quarter Park in the team's final meet prior to next weekend's MAAC Championship.
Vickers finished the 3K in 10:55.3, trailed closely by Kaylee Bergen's time of 10:59.6. A group of five Stags then crossed the line in a span of 27 seconds guided by Sami Carey's mark of 11:27.5. Jacqueline-Ann Willsey (11:31.4), Kelsi Farren (11:38.2), Katie Kern (11:45.1) and Sarah Morrissette (11:54.0) also comprised the Fairfield quintet.
The Stags placed 13th among Division I teams, besting Northeastern, St. Francis Brooklyn, Fairleigh Dickinson and MAAC foe Siena. Yale won the team title, while Boston College's Lauren Leff earned the individual crown with a time of 10:08.17.
The 2016 MAAC Championship will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando on Saturday, Oct. 29. The 8 a.m. men's race and 9 a.m. women's race will both be broadcast live on ESPN3.
