NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University women's rowing team competed in a dual meet with Iona College this afternoon and came away with a three-race sweep against the Gaels. The Stags posted wins in the varsity 8, the second varsity 8, and the varsity 4.
In the varsity 8, Kelsey Carthew, Briana Mullaney, Dani McKenna, Amanda McKenna, Eileen Keenan, Laura Miles, Jaclyn Ozjowski, Chloe Scherpa, and coxswain Katie Clark crossed the finish line first with a time of 7:25.0.
In the second varsity 8, the Stags crew was comprised by Rachel Sansone, Melissa Iannucci, Kaitlyn Sweeney, Mallory Burlington, Jamie Jubb, Tina Chalastra, Katrina Kirchgaesser, Colleen Sheridan, and coxswain Liz Bouregy. The shell finished first with a time of 7:59.0.
The varsity 4 completed the sweep by taking first place in 8:19.0 behind the efforts of Ani Dennen, Lina Foncello, Claire Lavelle, Tiffany Iannucci, and coxswain Katie Unfried.
Fairfield will return to the water for the Fall Metropolitan Regatta in New Rochelle on November 5 before completing the Fall season on November 12 at the Frostbite Regatta in West Windsor, N.J.
