FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- After completing a historic season on the water, the accolades continue to come in for the Fairfield University women's rowing team. The Stags saw 15 student-athletes were designated scholar-athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) as the organization announced its annual academic honors.
Fairfield's list of CRCA Scholar-Athletes include

Marianna Kalin (Marketing/Management),

Catherine Morrissey (Nursing),
Shawn O'Brien (Accounting), Julie Pedrazzi (Accounting),
Megan Rourke (Mechanical Engineering),
Miranda Schmidt (Economics/Marketing), Molly Squire (Psychology), Lexi Tomlinson (Nursing),
Grace Tyszka (Politics/Economics), and
Sarah Wendling (Nursing).
To be recognized as a CRCA Scholar-Athlete, nominees must meet rigorous requirements in both academic and athletic achievement. Student-athletes have completed at least their sophomore year of eligibility and hold a GPA of 3.50 or higher. They must also have rowed in 75 percent of spring races in an NCAA eligible boat and have raced in their conference championship.
The Fairfield University women's rowing team, under Head Coach
Dr. David Patterson, made program history by becoming the first team to earn a berth to the NCAA Championship. This year's edition did so by capturing the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship and earning the automatic berth that goes with the title. The MAAC Championship was the program's second in school history, also capturing the crown in 2000.Â
