About the Stags
Fairfield enters the weekend riding a 10-match winning streak to improve to 16-5 overall and 9-0 in the MAAC. Dating back to last fall, the Stags have won 18 consecutive MAAC regular season contests. Last week's victories at Siena and Quinnipiac also clinched the third straight season that Fairfield has defeated every MAAC team at least once (including postseason). The Stags have accomplished that feat in eight of 11 campaigns since the conference adopted an 18-match schedule in 2006.
Skyler Day and Mallory Bechtold have helped guide the Stags on their current winning streak, winning MAAC Player of the Week and Libero of the Week, respectively, for the second consecutive week. In the recent wins over the Saints and Bobcats, Day hit .247 on the outside while averaging 5.43 kills per set. She added 2.86 digs per frame and two blocks two the defensive effort and distributed five assists. Bechtold helmed the back row from the libero spot in all seven sets of action last week. She racked up 43 digs – 6.14 per set – in addition to five assists.
