Last Weekend: The field hockey team took its first road trip of the season to Philadelphia to take on Drexel on Friday and Villanova on Sunday. Both games ended with a 2-1 victory for the Stags who are now 3-3 on the season.

Friday against Drexel saw Julie de Paeuw score her first goal of the season when she capitalized off a short corner by senior Emily McCauley. It was McCauley's first point of the season as she recorded an assist on the play. Junior Ann Burgoyne tallied her sixth goal of the season just before halftime to put Fairfield up 2-0. Burgoyne was able to collect a rebound off the keeper right in front of the cage and finish it for the score. The Dragons scored with under two minutes to play, but Fairfield was able to claim the 2-1 victory.

The Stags battled the Wildcats on Sunday with no scoring in the first half. Out of the break, de Paeuw scored her second goal of the season when freshman Ruth Smalbraak took a corner that was stopped by Erin Buckley that allowed de Paeuw a perfect shot on net. Five minutes later, another corner by Smalbraak would set up their second goal and put the Stags up 2-0. Sophomore Jaclyn Gallagher would get an easy tip in goal assisted by Buckley and Ariane von Schenck. With 10 minutes to play, Francesca Bella would put the Wildcats on the board and cut into the Stag lead. Fairfield would regroup and hold steady for the remainder of the game to claim the 2-1 victory.

National Notice: Junior forward Ann Burgoyne sits tied for tenth in the nation with 1.00 goals per game and is tied for 25th with 2.00 points per game.
