PENNINGTON, N.J. – The Fairfield University women's cross country team was led by an 18th-place time of 23:32.40 from Kathleen Woods en route to finishing eighth of 10 teams at the Rider Invitational. The Stags bested MAAC foe Saint Peter's as a part of their performance at Rosedale Park.
Woods paced the Stags for the second time this fall after also leading the way at the Marist Season Opener on Sept. 5.
Alison Campbell added a time of 24:43.70 for Fairfield and Sami Carey clocked in at 24:53.40 as both Stags finished in the top half of the 141-runner field. Kaylee Bergen, Stef Vickers, Hayley Roberts and Shannon Lavin also competed for the Stags.
Quinnipiac won the meet with 49 points as all five of the Bobcats' scoring runners finished among the top 16. Rider's All-America harrier Emily Ritter won the individual title with a time of 22:08.50 in the 6K race.
Following this weekend's competition, the Stags will return to Fairfield to host the Fr. Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26. FairfieldStags.com will have complete coverage of the event throughout the week.
