PHOENIX, Md. – Led by a two-day 163 (80-83) from Danielle Dalessandro, the Fairfield University women's golf team placed 17th in the Tignanelli Towson Invitational. The Stags were among 19 teams to hit the links at Eagles Nest Country Club to open the fall slate.
Dalessandro's benchmark was paced by an opening-round 80, the lowest 18-hole score by a Stag on the weekend. Michelle Applegate added a 165 (81-84) for Fairfield, and Olivia Brooks fired a 167 (84-83).
Rounding out Fairfield's quintet on the course this weekend were Jackie Schofield (86-94-180) and Sara Quinn (104-109-213).
The host Towson Tigers won the event with a 618. Towson was paced by Jenny Buchanan and Larissa Spiess, who each carded a 151 to share second place. The duo was two strokes behind individual medalist Anneke Strobach, whose 149 (74-75) led Fairleigh Dickinson to a second-place team performance.
The Stags return to the course on Sept. 26-27 for the Dartmouth Women's Invitational at Hanover Country Club in Hanover, N.H.
