FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University women's tennis team blanked Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Monmouth, 7-0, on Thursday, April 9, for their fourth conference win of the 2015 campaign at the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
Fairfield swept the doubles point before posting singles victories in all six spots.
The Fairfield duo of Allison Radde and Helen Abbot defeated Monmouth's Adriana Armendariz and Ashley Sandler, 8-4, in the No. 1 spot while the Stags' Nicole Aragones and Sarah Stuhlmann fell 8-7 to the Hawks' Farrah Smoke and Kendal Kauffman in the No. 2 slot. At No. 3 doubles, Karen McKeough and Meghan Zimmer downed Monmouth's Chioma Gabriel and Sarah Turner, 8-1.
At No. 1 singles, Radde defeated Armendariz, 6-1, 6-4, while Stuhlmann downed Sandler, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 singles was Aragones who beat Smoke, 6-1, 7-5, while Abbot defeated Kauffman, 6-3, 6-0, in the No. 4 spot. Rounding out play for Fairfield was Nelson who topped Gabriel, 6-3, 6-2, while Zimmer blanked Turner, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 6 slot.
Fairfield (5-5; 4-1 MAAC) is scheduled to keep action home to the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts. The Stags will host conference foe Niagara at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 before hosting cross-town foe Sacred Heart on Monday, April 13 at 3:00 9.m.
