Men?s Golf Back in Action This Weekend at Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's golf team hits the links for its second tournament of the spring this Saturday as a part of the 23-team field at the Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational. Action from Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md. tees off this Saturday and concludes with final-round play on Sunday.

The Stags opened the spring three weeks ago at the Lonnie Barton Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla. Steve Burak led Fairfield at the two-day event, finishing one stroke off the pace to guide the Stags to a fifth-place team finish. Eric Austin was also among the top-10 individual golfers with a ninth-place showing.

The preseason favorite in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coaches' Poll, the Stags capped a productive fall campaign by capturing the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship on Oct. 26-27. Fairfield also placed second in the ECAC Championship – led by individual tournament champion Ricky Dowling – and finished third at the Rutgers Invitational behind Burak's individual title in the field of 96 golfers.

Following this weekend in Maryland, the Stags will play the only Connecticut tournament on the 2015 spring slate with an April 11-12 outing at the Northeast Invitational. The 36-hole affair will be held at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic, Conn.
