Stags Headed to Van Cortlandt Park for IC4A and ECAC Championships

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams will conclude the 2015 season this Saturday at the IC4A and ECAC Championships at famed Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. The Stags' men hit the 8K course at 11:30 a.m. followed by the women running a 5K race at 12:15 p.m.

The Fairfield men's cross country team will run in the University Division of the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) Championship to complete its 2015 campaign. The Stags have been led by Sam Daly in six of the seven races in which he has competed this fall, including last weekend at the NCAA Division I Northeast Region Championship. Daly finished 82nd in a field of 255 runners with a 10K time of 32:17.3.

Daly paced Fairfield in the University Division of last year's IC4A Championship, finishing eighth overall with a time of 26:09.5 as the Stags placed fourth of 16 teams.

The women's team will compete in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship on Saturday in the final meet of 2015. Most recently, Katheen Woods paced Fairfield with a time of 23:27.7 on the 6K course at the NCAA Division I Northeast Region Championship on Nov. 13 – the seventh time that the senior has led the team in eight meets this fall.

Among current Stags, Stef Vickers was the team's top performer at the ECAC Championship in 2014, finishing 51st among 178 harriers as the Fairfield placed ninth in the 18-team field.
