BREWSTER, Mass. – Kevin Duncan captured the 2015 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship, leading the Stags to a third-place team finish at Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass. Duncan fired a two-day 146 on the par-72 course.
Also the ECAC Champion in the fall of his freshman campaign, Duncan started the tournament sharing the lead with an opening-round 74. He maintained his spot atop the leaderboard with an even-par 72 in Monday's final round. He is Fairfield's first-ever individual winner at the event.
Kellen Jordan added a 13th-place performance for the Stags, carding a 160 (82-78), with Eric Austin (78-83) and Alex Ferrante (82-79) both landing just one shot behind him. Thomas Urciuoli also hit the links for Fairfield, placing 20th with a 164 (83-81).
The Stags combined to post a 626 (316-310) to place third of five teams. Bryant University, which Fairfield bested by one stroke to win the ECAC Championship last month, took the NEIGA crown with a 608 (310-298). The Bulldogs carded the low team round on both days of the 36-hole affair.
Today's action wraps up the fall season for the Stags. Fairfield's complete spring schedule will be announced on FairfieldStags.com as it is finalized. The 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship is slated for April 22-24 at Disney's Magnola Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
