Women?s Cross Country Places Seventh at CCSU Mini-Meet

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's cross country team returned to action on Friday afternoon after a 12-day hiatus from competition at the CCSU Mini-Meet. The Stags placed seventh of 17 teams in the 3K race, led by Kathleen Woods' time of 10:49.7.

Woods placed 31st and was followed by Jacqueline-Ann Willsey in 43rd at 5:53.8. Allison Campbell was also among the top half of the 113-runner field in 51st place with a time of 11:04.2.

Stef Vickers (11:11.3) and Julia Wood (11:25.2) rounded out the quintet of scorers for the Stags.

Among the 10 teams topped by the Stags was MAAC opponent Quinnipiac along with squads from the Big East, America East, Patriot League, Atlantic 10 and Northeast Conference.

Yale University won the meet, with its top five finishers also placing among the first 17 scorers. Brittany Medelson of host CCSU won the individual crown, setting the pace with a time of 10:12.7.

Fairfield also competed in the sub-varsity race, where Sarah Morrissette paced five Fairfield harriers with a 22nd-place time of 11:39.2.

The Stags resume their championship season next Saturday, Oct. 31 at the MAAC Championship at Rosedale Park in Pennington, N.J.
