Stags Continue Fall Slate at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The top four finishers for the Fairfield University women's cross country team all crossed the finish line within 56 seconds of each other at Friday's Paul Short Run on a rainy afternoon at Lehigh's Goodman Campus. The Stags placed 31st, topping 14 teams in the 45 runner field including MAAC opponent Niagara.

First to finish the 6K course for Fairfield was Kathleen Woods at the 22:57 mark in 98th place out of 387 runners. She was followed by Jacqueline-Ann Willsey at the 23:19 mark and, just 10 seconds later, Allison Campbell finished at 23:29. That pack of Stags was rounded out by Sami Carey, who crossed the line at 23:53.

With 872 team points, the Stags were just three points shy of 30th-place Assumption and nine points behind 29th-place Indiana (Pa.).

The team crown went to Saint Joseph's with 166 points. Despite not boasting a finisher in the top-10, the Hawks showed the most depth with five finishers between 11th and 53rd place.

Swarthmore's Katie McMenamin was the race's individual champion, setting the pace with a time of 21:23.

Fairfield begins its Championship Season next Saturday, Oct. 10, at the NEICAAA Championship at Franklin Park in Boston.
