Men's Tennis Travels to Monmouth on Wednesday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's tennis team will head to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponent Monmouth University on Wednesday, April 9 to compete against the Hawks at the Outdoor Tennis Complex. The first serve is set for 3pm.

Fairfield (8-6; 2-2 MAAC) vs. Monmouth: Wednesday's match will be the first dual the Stags and the Hawks have played against one another since March 30, 2011. In that contest, Fairfield fell to Monmouth, 4-3, in West Long Branch, N.J.

A Look at the Hawks: Monmouth is 10-6 on the season and 3-0 in MAAC play. The Hawks have posted victories over conference foes Saint Peter's, Niagara, and Siena. In their fall season, Monmouth competed in five tournaments including the Princeton Invitational, USTA Men's College Invitational, Penn Invitational, Columbia Classic, and the ITA Regionals. The Hawks are coming off a 7-0 win over Siena on April 6.

Last Time Out: The Stags fell to MAAC opponent Niagara, 6-1, on April 5 at the SportsPlex in North Tonawanda, N.Y. The Stags now have a 2-2 conference record. Sophomore Ofir Solomon scored the lone point for the Stags. That point came at No. 2 singles where Solomon edged the Purple Eagles' Inaki Belloso, 6-4, 6-3.

Looking Ahead: Fairfield will continued MAAC action on the road. The Stags will stop at Siena on April 12 before traveling to Sacred Heart on April 15.
