Men's Tennis Falls to Niagara, 6-1

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University men's tennis team fell to conference foe Niagara, 6-1, last night at the SportsPlex. Sophomore Ofir Solomon scored the lone point for the Stags.
 
Fairfield's point of the day came at No. 2 singles where Solomon edged the Purple Eagles' Inaki Belloso, 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles play, Fairfield duo Ian Tesmond and Solomon fell to Niagara's duo Michael Elortegui and Belloso, 8-4. At the No. 3 spot, Cameron Amyot and Peter Colliard were edged, 8-6, by Lorenz Schwojer and Mathieu Lacasse. At No. 2 doubles, Stags pair Bjorn Merinder and Dennis Zlobinsky were leading the Purple Eagles' David Raymond and O. Dufour-Coursol, 7-4, before the match was called.

At No. 1 singles, Tesmond battled but ultimately fell to Niagara's Elortegui, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8. In the No. 3 spot, Zlobinsky was edged by Raymond, 6-2, 7-5. Amyot fell, 6-1, 6-2, to Dufour-Coursol in the No. 4 spot. Merinder was clipped by Niagara's Schwojer, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles while Colliard fell, 7-5, 6-1, to the Purple Eagles' Lacasse in the No. 6 spot.
 
Fairfield (8-6) is scheduled to take MAAC action on the road. The Stags will stop at Monmouth on April 9 before traveling to Siena on April 12.
