DOVER, Del. – The Fairfield University women's golf team is in fourth place after the first day of competition at the Delaware State Spring Invitational. The Stags shot a collective 364 on the par 73, 5,982-yard course at the Maple Dale Country Club.
Individually, sophomore Michelle Applegate is tied fourth overall after carding an 84 (+11). Junior Kate Heffernan is tied for 15th overall after finishing with a score of 90 in the first round.
Sophomore Sara Quinn and freshman Jackie Schofield each shot a 95 this afternoon while freshman Chelsea Donovan was a stroke behind with a 96 for the first round.
Towson University is in first place after shooting a 336 during the first round. University of Hartford is in second with a 346 while Quinnipiac is a close third with a team score of 349. The host Hornets are in fifth place with a score of 370. Individually, Towson's Krissy Unger and Quinnipiac's Jennifer Whaley are tied for the top spot after both carded an 81 (+8) this afternoon.
The Stags will close out competition at the Delaware State Spring Invitational tomorrow.
