POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University men's tennis team fell to conference foe Marist, 6-1, this afternoon at the East Campus Tennis Pavilion. Sophomore Ofir Solomon scored the lone point for the Stags.
Fairfield's point of the day came at No. 2 singles where Solomon edged the Red Foxes' Dalen Klassen, 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles play, Fairfield duo Ian Tesmond and Cameron Amyot fell to Marist's duo Lorenzo Rossi and Will Reznek, 8-4. At the No. 2 spot, Solomon and Dennis Zlobinsky were edged, 8-6, by Klassen and Trym Nagelstad. At No. 3 doubles, Stags pair Bjorn Merinder and Reece Breault fell to the Red Foxes' Dylan Fletcher and Matteo Giudici, 8-6.
At No. 1 singles, Tesmond battled but ultimately fell to Marist's Rossi, 6-4, 3-6, 10-3. In the No. 3 spot, Zlobinsky dropped to the Red Foxes' Reznek, 6-3, 6-0. Amyot fell, 6-3, 6-1, to Joseph Dube in the No. 4 spot. Merinder was clipped by Marist's Fredrik Bjerke, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles while Peter Colliard fell, 6-4, 6-4, to the Red Foxes' Giudici in the No. 6 spot.
Fairfield (8-5) is scheduled to take MAAC action on the road. The Stags will travel to Niagara on April 5.
