FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men's tennis team fell to Villanova, 4-2, in their last regular season match this afternoon on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
Fairfield's two points of the day came at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. In the No. 1 spot, Ian Tesmond edged Villanova's Thomas O'Brien, 7-5, 7-6 (3) while Ofir Solomon downed the Wildcats' Kelly Donaldson, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 2 spot.
At No. 3 singles, Dennis Zlobinsky fell to Villanova's Bradley Noyes, 6-2, 6-2. Cameron Amyotwas clipped by the Wildcats' Tim Abbracciamento, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 4 slot while Peter Colliard fell, 6-3, 7-5, to Michael Rosengren in the No. 5 spot. Rounding out play for Fairfield was Bjorn Merinder who was clipped, 6-0, 6-3, in the No. 6 spot.
Fairfield (10-9, 4-3 MAAC) will return to at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament. The 2014 MAAC Tournament will be held on April 26-27 in West Windsor, N.J.
