Ian Tesmond Earns MAAC Weekly Honors

Men's Tennis Falls to Stony Brook, 4-0

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University men's tennis team fell to Stony Brook, 4-0, this afternoon at the University Courts.

At No. 2 doubles, Ofir Solomon and Dennis Zlobinsky fell to Stony Brook's Raphael Termat and Tyler Hoffman, 8-4, while Bjorn Merinder and Peter Colliard were edged by Marcelo Locatelli and Vinicius Degani, 8-6, in the No. 3 spot. At No. 1 doubles, Ian Tesmond and Cameron Amyot were tied, 7-7, with Alexandre Felisa and Jose Morales when the match was called. 

In the No. 3 spot, Zlobinsky was edged by the Seawolves' Morales, 6-4, 6-2. Amyot was clipped by Stony Brook's Hoffman, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 4 singles while Merinder fell, 6-1, 6-4, to the Seawolves' Brandon Stone in the No. 6 spot.

At No. 1 singles, Tesmond was trailing Felisa, 6-2, 2-2, when the match was called. In the No. 2 spot, Solomon was battling Termat, 6-4, 2-2, and Colliard was leading the Seawolves' Locatelli, 6-4, 2-1, in the No. 5 spot. Both matches were left unfinished.

Fairfield (10-8, 4-3 MAAC) will return to action tomorrow. The Stags will host Villanova on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts at 3:30pm before heading to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament. The 2014 MAAC Tournament will be held on April 26-27 in West Windsor, N.J.
