Men's Tennis Hosts Saint Peter?s Saturday for Senior Day

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's tennis team will host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Saint Peter's on Saturday, April 19 at the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts. The first serve is set for around 12:30pm. Prior to the match the Stags will be recognizing the contributions of their seniors.

Fairfield (9-7; 3-3 MAAC) vs. Saint Peter's: Saturday's match will be the first time the two programs will meet for dual play since last year's match on February 14. In that contest, Fairfield defeated Saint Peter's, 6-1, in Jersey City, N.J. The Stags are 3-0 in their last three meetings with the Peacocks.

A Look at the Peacocks: Saint Peter's is 8-9 on the season and 2-4 in MAAC play. The Peacocks have posted victories over Fordham, La Salle, Rider, Lafayette, Wagner, Siena, St. Francis (N.Y.) and Mt. St. Mary's. In their fall season, Saint Peter's competed in three tournaments, including the USTA Invitational, the Penn Invitational, and the ITA Regional.

Last Time Out: The Stags defeated the Siena Saints, 7-0, on April 12 on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts. After winning the doubles point, Fairfield swept No.1 through No. 6 singles.

Senior Status: Saturday's contest will be the final match on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts for seniors Reece Breault, Bjorn Merinder, R.J. Mirabile, Ian Tesmond, and Dennis Zlobinsky. Together, these five Stags have tallied 51 program wins, earned three MAAC Player of the Week honors, and helped the team to a MAAC Championship title and two second place finishes. Three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete Zlobinsky has recorded 127 combined victories, good for sixth all-time at Fairfield.

Pardon Our Appearance: Stags fans will be noticing some changes over the next few weeks to the athletic complex. The first phase of construction on the Rafferty Stadium project has gotten underway. Due to the construction, the Walsh Athletic Center Parking Lot will be closed. Fans are asked to utilize the parking lots at Dolan Commons, Fairfield Prep, the rear of Alumni Hall, and Jogues Hall when they visit Stags Country for a game.

Looking Ahead: Fairfield will continue play on the road. The Stags will travel to Stony Brook to compete against the Seawolves on April 21 before returning home to face Villanova on April 22.
