Women's Lacrosse Hosts Quinnipiac on Wednesday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team continues Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play on Lessing Field when the Stags host Quinnipiac University on April 16 at 3pm.

Fairfield (9-3) vs. Quinnipiac (2-10): The Stags are 4-0 all-time against the Bobcats since 2010. Last season, Maeve Quinn scored three goals while Courtney Chmil and Melanie Raso tallied two apiece to lead Fairfield to a 16-4 win over Quinnipiac on Alumni Field. Jamie Leone and Jenna Fuchs each added a goal for the Stags. Fairfield took a 2-1 lead at 21:15 in the first half, and never looked back.

Scouting the Bobcats: Quinnipiac split last week's games and is coming off a 15-13 double overtime loss to Marist on April 13. Junior Kyra Ochwat is the Bobcats' leading scorer this season with 33 goals and 15 assists for 48 points. Kearney Sneath has 13 goals while Kelly Babstock and Michaela Tinsley are next with 12 apiece. Junior goalie Samantha Tilts has recorded 125 saves, earning a save percentage of .421.

Last Time Out: Fairfield was last in action on April 12 when it defeated MAAC foe Siena, 15-8, on Lessing Field. Sophomore Julieanne Mascera and freshman Alex Fehmel each recorded hat tricks while rookie Riley Hellstein had two goals, an assist, and three draw controls. Melanie Raso netted two goals while Jenna Slowey and Jamie Leone each added a goal and two assists. Kelly Camardo tallied her first collegiate points with a goal and an assist. Riley Smith and Colleen Reynolds rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece.

National Notice: Entering the week, the Stags are among the national statistical leaders in several categories. Sophomore goalie Chelsey Sidaras is ranked fourth in goals against average (6.51) and 14th in save percentage (0.486) while junior defender Meghan Reda is 17th in caused turnovers per game (1.83). As a team, Fairfield is ranked fourth in scoring defense (6.67) and 16th overall in win percentage (.750). The Stags are also 19th in caused turnovers per game (9.67) and 20th in scoring margin (4.17).

Looking Ahead: The Stags will continue conference play at home. Fairfield will host Marist on Saturday, April 19 for Senior Day. Prior to the game, the Stags will be honoring the contributions of their seniors.
