Men's Tennis Heads to Marist on Wednesday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's tennis team will take Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) competition on the road as the Stags head to Marist on Wednesday, April 2. The first serve is set for 3pm.

Fairfield (8-4) vs. Marist: Wednesday's match will be the first dual the Stags and the Red Foxes have played against one another since last year's MAAC Championship match on April 28. In that contest, Fairfield fell to Marist, 4-2, in West Windsor, N.J. Fairfield and Marist have already met this season at the USTA Invitational on September 20-22. At that competition, Ian Tesmond defeated the Red Foxes' Fredrik Bjerke, 6-1, 3-0, while Peter Colliard edged Marist's Joe Motta, 6-2, 7-5. Dennis Zlobinsky fell to Dylan Fletcher, 6-1, 6-1, while Cameron Amyot fell to the Red Foxes' Julien Hochner, 6-4, 6-3. R.J. Mirabile fell to Matteo Guidici, 6-2, 6-2, and Tyler Parks was clipped, 6-1, 6-2, by Aviel Malka. The two then fell, 8-2, to Marist's Motta/Bjerke.

A Look at the Red Foxes: Marist is 9-4 on the season so far. The 2013 MAAC Champions have fallen to Columbia, Buffalo, Yale, and St. John's. In their fall season, Marist competed in five tournaments including the Brown Invitational, USTA Invitational, Ivy Plus Tournament, Columbia Invitational, and the ITA Regionals. The Red Foxes are coming off a 7-0 win over conference foe Rider on March 27.

Last Time Out: The Stags fell to the Army Black Knights, 6-1, on March 30 in West Point, N.Y. Fairfield's lone point of the day came at No. 3 singles, where Ofir Solomon edged the Black Knights' Grant Riechmann, 7-6, 6-3.

Looking Ahead: Fairfield will continue MAAC action on the road. The Stags will stop at Niagara on April 5 before traveling to Monmouth on April 9.
