Men's Tennis Heads to the ITA Regionals this Weekend

Men's Tennis Sweeps Lafayette, 7-0

STAMFORD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's tennis team defeated Lafayette, 7-0, in dual match play at the Stamford Indoor Tennis Club last night.

Fairfield did not lose a point all day, lifting the Stags to a 7-2 overall record.

In the No. 1 singles spot, George Tioutine defeated the Leopards' Brian Pinkard, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Ofir Solomon downed Lafayette's Brian Stefanowicz, 6-0, 6-1. In the No. 3 spot, Dennis Zlobinsky defeated the Leopards' Chris Matturri, 6-1, 6-2. Cameron Amyot beat Gavin Studner, 6-3, 6-1, in the No. 4 spot while Bjorn Merinder downed Lafayette's Jake Lazer, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 5 spot. Rounding out singles play for the Stags was Peter Colliard who won by walkover.   
 
Tioutine partnered with Zlobinsky, at No. 1 doubles, to defeat Lafayette pair Pinkard and Lazer, 8-3. Clinching the doubles point for the Stags was duo Solomon and Merinder, who defeated Leopards duo Matturi and Studner, 8-4, in the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 doubles, Lafayette duo Stefanowicz/Abramo defeated Fairfield duo Amyot/Colliard, 8-2.

Fairfield will continue action on the road. The Stags will travel to Harrison, N.Y. to compete against St. John's on March 16 at noon.
