STAMFORD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's tennis team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University, 4-1, in dual match play at the Stamford Indoor Tennis Club yesterday evening.
The Stags posted singles victories in the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 spots, lifting them to a 5-2 overall record.
At No. 2 doubles, Fairfield pair

After winning the doubles point, Fairfield took a 1-0 lead into singles play. At No. 2 singles, Tioutine defeated Fairleigh Dickinson's Whalley, 6-4, 6-4, while Solomon downed the Knights' Garnel, 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 4 spot. The final point for the Stags was tallied by Amyot, who defeated Valentin, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 5 singles. Fairleigh Dickinson's only point was scored when Quintana edged Zlobinsky, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 3 spot. Rounding out singles play in the No. 1 and No. 6 spots were Tesmond and Merinder, whose matches were unfinished.
Fairfield will take action on the road, stopping at UConn on February 26 followed by Citadel on March 1.
