Women's Golf Finishes Ninth At Tignanelli Towson I

The Fairfield University women's golf team improved by a stroke in the second round of the Tignanelli Towson Classic at Towson Golf & Country Club in Phoenix, Md. The Stags shot 329 on Monday to finish in a tie for ninth place with a 36-hole team total of 659.

Emma Ritzmann carded the Stags best round for the second consecutive day, shooting 80, to finish in a 16th place tie at 158. The junior parred eight of her first nine holes and finished with 23 holes of par or better for the tournament.

Katie Rockwell and Danielle Dalessandro both sliced two strokes off of their opening round scores on Monday, with Rockwell carding an 81 and Dalessandro an 85. Rockwell finished in a 39th place tie, with a two-day score of 164, while Dalessandro finished at 172 in a tie for 60th.

Olivia Brooks shot a second-round 83 for the Stags to finish in a 41st place tie. She shot 165 over the two rounds, after an opening day 82. Kate Heffernan rounded out the Stags effort with a 36-hole score of 180, and tied for 69th.

The University of Delaware captured the team crown with a two-day score of 614. Jennifer Neville from St. John's University earned the individual crown, shooting 147.

The Stags return to action September 27-28 at the ECAC Championship at Twisted Dunes Golf Course in Atlantic City, N.J.
