JERSEY CITY, N.J. -
The Fairfield University volleyball team posted their tenth consecutive victory with a 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-11) win at Saint Peter's University this afternoon. With the victory, the Stags improve to 13-11 overall and to 10-3 in league play and remain tied atop the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) standings.

Junior Marilyn Peizer registered double-digit kills for the ninth straight match, finishing with 11 kills. She added nine digs and two total blocks.

Junior Caitlin Stapleton tallied seven kills while classmate Lindsay Weaver had six kills and four total blocks. Senior Hayley Moyer had six kills while freshman Megan O'Sullivan chipped in with five kills and three total blocks.

In the first set, Fairfield trailed 11-7 early. The Stags took advantage of consecutive Saint Peter's errors while Peizer delivered back-to-back kills to tie the set, 11-11. With the score knotted at 14-14, a kill by Weaver ignited a 6-1 run for Fairfield. The Peacocks cut the gap to 20-19 with an ace, but stopped their own run with a service error. Fairfield took advantage once more and closed out the frame on a 4-0 run for the 25-20 win.

Saint Peter's (4-24; 2-14 MAAC) opened a five point lead, 18-13, during the second set. Fairfield chipped away at the deficit, later pulling within 20-19 on a kill by Peizer. That point would be the first of five unanswered Fairfield points. Peizer capped off the run with a kill to take a 23-20 lead. Fairfield would push its lead to 24-21 but Saint Peter's was able to hold off set point three times to tie the stanza at 24-24. Peizer answered with a kill while Rachel Romansky followed with a kill of her own to give the Stags the win.

It was all Fairfield in the third set as the Stags jumped out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back in the 25-11 victory.

Romansky finished with 30 assists, seven digs, and two aces while Carsen Mata had 13 digs.

Fairfield hit .305 for the match and held Saint Peter's to an attack percentage of .146. The Stags also out-blocked the Peacocks, 6-1.

The Stags current winning streak ties the seventh-longest streak in program history. Fairfield had a 10-match winning streak during the 2012 campaign.

Fairfield has five MAAC matches left on the regular season slate. The Stags travel to Rider University on November 3. Fairfield returns to Alumni Hall for its final two home matches, November 9-10, against Manhattan and Iona Colleges. The Stags will play its final two MAAC contests on the road, November 16-17, stopping at Niagara University and Canisius College. The 2013 MAAC Championship will be held November 23-24 at Siena.
