RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Fairfield University women's cross country team finished seventh at the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships this afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park.
Junior
Maureen Crimmins was 29th overall in the women's 6K with a time of 24:17.60. Freshman
Stef Vickers was next in 24:38.23 while junior
Maggie MacKenzie had a time of 24:39.86. Junior
Cate Forte posted a time of 24:47.46 while freshman
Hayley Roberts had a time of 24:57.85. Rounding out the top-seven for the Stags were freshman
Jacqueline-Ann Willsey in 25:28.05 and junior
Michael Therrien in 25:30.68.
Senior
Molly Leidig had a time of 25:41.91 and was followed by freshman
Sarah Morrissette in 25:53.38 and junior
Danielle Renzi in 25:54.35.
Danica Ceballos had a time of 26:03.13 while classmate
Hillary Maxson finished in 26:32.69. Freshman
Julia Wood clocked a 27:37.16. Junior
Kelsey Murphy finished in 27:54.42 and sophomore
Kathleen Woods in 28:11.55. Senior
Juli Bassett had a time of 29:01.46 while sophomore
Deirdre Simms finished in 29:10.65. Senior
Casey Gerety had a time of 30:34.46.
Iona repeated as MAAC Champions with the Gaels' Kate Avery posting a winning time of 21:07.14. Quinnipiac was the runner-up with 59 points followed by Marist (109), Monmouth (110), Rider (147) and Canisius (150) in sixth. Fairfield was seventh with 188 followed by Niagara (216), Manhattan (233), Siena (248), and Saint Peter's (357.
In addition, six Stags were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team: Bassett, Ceballos, Maxson, Murphy, Renzi, Simms, and Woods.
Fairfield returns to Van Cortlandt Park on November 15 for the 2013 NCAA Regionals.
