Women's Golf Captures Delaware State Invitational

The Fairfield University women's golf team shot a 36-hole score of 643 to capture the team crown at the 2013 Delaware State Invitational. The Stags shot 325 in the morning round and improved seven strokes in the afternoon for their first tournament win of the 2013-14 season.

Junior Emma Ritzmann (Fairport, N.Y.) earned medalist honors with a two-round score of 154. She opened with a 79 in the morning and then carded an afternoon 75 to earn the victory.

Michelle Applegate (Yardley, Pa.) and Olivia Brooks (Sturbridge, Mass.) matched each other all day, finishing tied at 158. Both players scored 80 in the first round and improved two strokes in the afternoon round. Katie Rockwell (Rumford, R.I.) shot 86-87 to finish, while Sara Quinn (Webster, N.Y.) rounded out the effort with an 88-87.

Fairfield is back in action at the Rutgers Fall Invitational October 14-15 in Piscataway, N.J.
