WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's cross country team took six of the top seven spots at the University of Saint Joseph Invitational this morning.

Senior Hillary Maxson won the 5K with a time of 20:44 while classmate Danica Ceballos was the runner-up in 21:05. Sophomore Kathleen Woods was a close third, finishing in 21:07. Freshman Sarah Morrissette posted a time of 21:16 to place fourth while classmate Julia Wood was fifth with after recording a personal best of 21:28. Freshman Gabriella Vezza finished seventh overall with a time of 22:02 in her collegiate debut.

Sophomore Deirdre Simms was 11th overall with a time of 23:00 while senior Casey Gerety clocked personal best of 23:35 to place 13th overall.

Fairfield will have a full squad competing next Saturday, October 12, at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
