Women's Golf Third After 18 Holes At TPC River Highlands

Day One Results

The Fairfield University women's shot an 18-hole team score of 342 and is in third place after the first round of the Quinnipiac Classic. The two-day event is being played at the par-70 TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.

The Stags are just 10 strokes off of day one leader Appalachian State, which shot a 332 on Monday. The host Bobcats are two strokes ahead of Fairfield, 340, while the Stags are six strokes in front of Hartford and St. Francis-New York.

Katie Rockwell paced the Fairfield effort with an opening round 83, good for seventh place and just five strokes off of leader Haley Zagoria of Appalachian State. Emma Ritzmann is two strokes back of her teammate and is tied for eighth place after a +15 opening round.

Danielle Dalsessandro and Michelle Applegate both shot rounds of 87 on Monday and are part of an eight-way tie for 11th place. Olivia Brooks shot an 88 and is in a two-way tie for 19th place after 18 holes of play. Sara Quinn, playing as an individual for the Stags, shot an 89 and is tied with two others for 21st place.

The 36-hole event, the Stags final tournament of the fall, concludes Tuesday.
