NEW HAVEN, Conn. - A squad from the Fairfield University men's tennis team matched up against St. Peter's, Colgate, Boston College, University of Pennsylvania, and Dartmouth at the 2013 the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals this past weekend. The Stags competed in singles and doubles play at the six-day event which took place at Yale University.

Ian Tesmond and
Ofir Solomon competed in singles play while duos
Dennis Zlobinsky/Tesmond and
Cameron Amyot/Solomon competed in doubles play for the Stags.
After competing in qualifying singles, Solomon entered the main singles draw in the Fifth Eighth bracket where he fell in the first round to Carlos Carrera from St. Peter's, 6-5, 6-2. In the Sixth Eighth singles bracket, Tesmond also fell in the first round to Colgate's Luke Gensburg, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles play, Tesmond/Zlobinsky were the standout duo for the Stags. They competed in Fourth Quarter doubles where they advanced to the third round. The duo defeated Boston College's Nelson/Wagner, 8-0, in the first round to advance to the second round where the pair defeated Penn's Kocovic/Nardella, 8-7. Tesmond/Zlobinsky met their match in the third round where they fell to Dartmouth's Tannenbaum/Ghorbani, 8-7. In First Quarter doubles, Fairfield pair Amyot/Solomon fell to Penn's duo Katz/De Alwis, 8-6, in the first round.
The men's tennis team will finish out the fall season, October 25-27, at the Connecticut State Championships in New Haven, Conn.
