FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's cross country team captured the 36th Annual Fr. Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational, winning the team title for the third consecutive year, while the women's cross country team was the runner-up in their race this morning.
Junior
Howie Rosas came away with the individual title in the men's 8K with a personal best of 25:59. It is the second-straight year in which a Fairfield harrier won the event. On the women's side, sophomore
Maureen Crimmins placed third overall in the 5K with a personal best of 18:55.
In conjunction with the Leeber Invitational, the Stags sponsored a Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink for the Cure® event in support of breast cancer awareness and research, raising more than $2,600 for the foundation.
In addition to Rosas' performance in the men's 8K, sophomore
Connor Kelley placed fourth overall with a time of 26:22 while junior
Brian Cleary was sixth in 26:47. Senior
Kyle Short finished eighth overall in 27:09 while classmate
Dylan Fisher was close behind in ninth with a time of 27:12. Senior
Greg Chase stopped the clock in 27:25 to finish 15th overall. Junior
John Loborounded out the Stags' top-seven with a time of 27:38.

Matt Boley posted a time of 28:00 while freshman
Frank Segreto had a mark of 28:38. Senior
Ernie Lustenring finished in a time of 31:22.
Fairfield won the event with 28 points while Rutgers University was the runner-up with 54 points. Sacred Heart University took third with 66 points while Fordham University was fourth with 90 points. Molloy College (148) was fifth, University of New Haven (164) was sixth, and the University of Bridgeport (221) was seventh.
In addition to Crimmins' performance in the women's 5K, sophomore
Danielle Renzi placed sixth overall with a personal best of 19:24. Sophomore
Cate Forte was seventh with a personal best of 19:33. Senior
Sam Goodnow clocked a time of 19:46 to finish tenth overall. Sophomore
Maggie MacKenzie ran a personal best of 19:52 to place 12th overall. Junior
Hillary Maxson also had a personal best, finishing with a time of 20:11 which was good for 16th overall. Rounding out the Stags' top-seven was freshman
Kathleen Woods who posted a time of 20:20.

Juli Bassett ran a personal best of 20:32 while classmate
Molly Leidig was on her heels in 20:33. Sophomore
Kelsey Murphy had a time of 21:03 while junior
Danica Ceballos clocked a time of 21:12. Freshman
Nora Garrity had a time of 21:33 while senior
Kerry Hamilton had a time of 23:27 in her season debut.
Runners from Fairfield and Sacred Heart comprised the top-10 finishers in the women's 5K. Sacred Heart's Alyssa Selmquist won the individual title with a time of 18:27 to help the Pioneers to their ninth consecutive team title. The Stags were second with 38 points while Fordham was third with 77. Molloy was fourth with 115 points, New Haven was fifth with 136 points, and Bridgeport was sixth with 182.
Fairfield returns to action on October 7 at the New England Championships in Westfield, Mass.
