LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. –
The Fairfield University volleyball team had its seven-match winning streak snapped falling to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Siena College, 3-1 (21-25, 23-25, 25-18, 20-25) this evening on the road. Sophomore Caitlin Stapleton led the Stags with 13 kills and a career-high eight total blocks.
 
Sophomore Camille Coffey and junior Rachel Romansky each posted double-doubles for the Stags. Coffey registered her second double-double of the year with 12 kills and a season-high 16 digs. Romansky recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 41 assists and 11 digs. Romansky also had three total blocks and two aces while Coffey had two total blocks.
 
For the second-straight match, sophomore Lindsay Weaver tied a career-high with six total blocks. She also delivered six kills. Junior Hayley Moyer chipped in with five total blocks and four kills.

Senior Kara Reis had a team-high 26 digs, bring her career total to 1,600 and surpassing Jazmin Pa'akaula for third all-time at Fairfield. Reis needs 13 digs to surpass Lauren Laramore for second all time and is closing in on Lindsey Lee's career record of 1,674 digs which was set in 2007.
 
The first set was in typical Fairfield-Siena style with 10 ties and seven lead changes. With the score tied 20-20, the Saints rattled off three straight points. A block by Weaver and Stapleton stopped the run, but Siena won the next two points for the 25-21 win.
 
Fairfield trailed by five points midway through the second set but the Stags surged back, pulling within 22-20 on a kill by Nicole MarzikThe Saints briefly benefited from a Fairfield error, but Stapleton got the point back with a kill. The Stags then came through with back-to-back blocks to tie the set at 23-23. A kill by Rachel Stoklosa put the Saints ahead to stay in the 25-23 win.
 
The Stags bounced back in the third set, jumping out to a 7-3 lead. Fairfield proved too much for Siena as the Stags cruised to the 25-18 victory.
 
Both teams dug in for the fourth set, battle to nine ties and three lead changes. Siena began to pull away from Fairfield, going on top 22-18. After a Stags timeout, Marzik stopped the Saints run with a kill while a block by Stapleton and Weaver cut the gap to 22-20. Siena managed to hold off the Stags for the 25-20 win.
 
Marzik finished with five kills on the night. Defensively, senior Stephanie Cruz added seven digs while Carsen Mata had eight digs.
 
Fairfield out-blocked Siena 12-6 for the Stags' second straight match with 10 or more blocks.
 
Siena (7-7; 2-1 MAAC) snapped a five-match losing skid to Fairfield, picking up its first victory over the Stags since October 31, 2009. The Saints were paced by Stoklosa, Taylor Akana, and Sarah Sivertson who each had double-doubles. Stoklosa finished with 16 kills and 15 digs, Akana had 16 kills and 12 digs while Sivertson had 43 assists and 12 digs.
 
Fairfield (7-6; 2-1 MAAC) continues MAAC road action on Friday, September 21 as the Stags travel to Iona College for a 7pm contest.
