The Fairfield University women's golf team finished as the team runner-up at the 2012 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship at the par-72 Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The Stags shot a team score of 992, including a 333in the final round on Sunday.
Emma Ritzmann shot the Stags best round of the tournament on Sunday, carding a +5 77 to finish in a tie for 11th place at 33, 249. The rookie birdied three holes on Sunday, as she lopped another four strokes off of her second round score, which was 10 strokes better than her opening 18 holes of play.
Elly Lemons was the highest individual finisher for Fairfield as her 26, 242, was good for fifth place at the championship. She had three birdies in the final round as well to finish at +9, 81. Katie Rockwell finished the championship in 10th place after a final round +14, 86. She birdied 13 on Sunday on her way to finishing the event at +32, 248.
Megan Feeney finished in 19th place after shooting +44, 260. She carded a final round, +22, 94, with five pars on the day. Rounding out the Fairfield effort was Kate Heffernan who shot +17, 89 on Sunday after a four-par, one-birdie effort. She finished the event in 25th place with a +52 score of 268.
Siena won the overall crown with a team score of 939. Victoria Nguyen was the individual champion with a +9, 225, for the event.
