LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Fairfield men's tennis team won their fourth-straight match this afternoon after sweeping conference foe Siena College, 7-0.
Duo
Dan Sauter and
Dennis Zlobinsky defeated Peter Collins and Alex Burbine without giving up a game, 8-0. Finishing quickly after, was
Joe Michalisin and
Erik Kremheller to clinch the doubles point with an 8-1 victory over Jarrett Siwiec and Eric Sumanaru.
Mike Lessing and
Cameron Amyot finished the doubles play with an 8-5 decision over Vikaran Kadaba and Dylan Roberts.
The momentum continued for the Stags as they started the singles matches, each match captured in straight sets. At No. 1 singles was Sauter who defeated Collins 6-0, 6-0. The senior co-captain blanked both of his opponents today, never giving up a game. Michalisin played in the two spot today and after a close first set, breezed by Roberts for a 7-5, 6-0 finish. Zlobinsky played No. 3 singles and defeated Burbine 6-2, 6-0 while Kremheller in the four spot faced Siwiec once again defeated the Saint 6-1, 6-0. Amyot and
R.J. Mirabile rounded out the day for Fairfield with two more wins. Amyot defeated Matthew Funiciello 6-0, 6-1 and Mirabile finished with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
The Stags complete MAAC regular season play this Sunday as they host Loyola College Maryland on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts at 10am. After Sunday's match, Fairfield will have just one last non-conference dual to prepare for the MAAC Championships next weekend.
