FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield men's tennis team improved to 11-4, 3-1 in the MAAC today after a 6-1 victory over Saint Peter's College. 
 
The Stags were dominant from the beginning sweeping the doubles matches.  In the one spot, Dan Sauter and Dennis Zlobinsky defeated Charlie Carrera and Luccas Coutinho, 8-4.  The duo of Joe Michalisin and Erik Kremheller, at No. 2 doubles, gave up just two games to Fabian Valdviezo and Nichollas Goulart De Lima walking away with an 8-2 victory.  With just five players at the match, Fairfield won number three doubles by a walkover.
 
Fairfield entered singles play with the momentum from doubles and their success continued.  All but one match was taken in two straight sets by the Stags.  At No. 1 singles, Sauter defeated Sebastian Barbera 6-2, 7-5.  After a back and forth first set, Michalisin refused to allow Coutinho back in the match, finishing with a score of 6-4, 6-0.  Zlobinsky competed in the four spot and defeated Valdviezo 6-4, 6-1, while Kremheller gave up just one game in his match breezing by Goulart de Lima, 6-1, 6-0.
 
The Stags return to the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts this Monday at 3pm to take on Quinnipiac University.  Following the Quinnipiac match, the men's team will travel to Loudonville, N.Y. for a Friday afternoon match against Siena for their second to last MAAC competition.
