FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield men's tennis team swept crosstown foe, Sacred Heart University this afternoon. The Stags improve to 10-4 overall, and 2-1 in conference play.
As usual, doubles started the day strong for Fairfield taking all three matches. At No. 1 doubles,
Joe Michalisin and
Erik Kremheller paired up to defeat Mohring and Miller 8-6. The duo of
Ian Tesmond and
Cameron Amyot defeated their opponents 8-2, and
Dan Sauter and
Mike Lessing defeated Lopresti and Pagan, 8-4.
After earning the lone doubles point, the Stags had momentum going into the singles matches. Four Stags took their opponents in two straight sets. In the one spot and in one of the closer matches of the day, Sauter defeated Chad Sullo 6-4, 7-6. Kremheller competed at No. 4 singles giving up just one game throughout the match, defeating Logan Mohsing 6-0, 6-1. Michalisin also had an impressive outing giving up just two games, breezing by Luka Bagi, 6-2, 6-0.
Fairfield returns to play Saturday, April 14, at 10am against conference foe St. Peter's on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts. The Stags are on track to hold the two seed entering the MAAC Championship tournament at the end of April.
