FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield men's tennis team took Hartford 6-1 today on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.  It was the first match for the Stags on their home outdoor courts this season.

Fairfield captured the lone doubles point going 3-0 in the first matches of the day.  At No. 1 doubles, Ian Tesmond and Dennis Zlobinsky paired up to defeat Josh Isaacson and Ancil Bhalla, 8-2.  Other doubles victories came from Joe Michalisin and Erik Kremheller, and Dan Sauter and Mike Lessing.

In singles, senior Dan Sauter dropped just one game taking Marcos Neves in two straight sets in the one spot, 6-1, 6-0.  Joe Michalisin finished next at No. 3 singles against Josh Isaacson also in two straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.  In the four and six spots, Dennis Zlobinsky and RJ Mirabile both beat their opponents 6-4, 6-1.  At No. 5, freshman Cameron Amyot came back to defeat Alex Holdstein after dropping the first set, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.  The only loss for the Stags came in the No. 2 after three sets and finishing last, Ian Tesmond dropped to Ancil Bhalla 4-6, 7-6, 10-8.

Fairfield next takes the court on Sunday, April 1 against St. Joe's.  The match will be played at home on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts at 2:30 pm.
