EASTON, Pa. - The Fairfield University men's tennis team picked up a 5-2 victory against Lafayette on Saturday.

Sophomore Ian Tesmond downed Brandon Goldstein, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2 singles. At third singles, after dropping the first set, Dennis Zlobinsky pulled out an exciting victory over Will Mercorella, 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-2.

Rookie George Tioutine edged Scott Gelbman, 7-6(5), 6-3 at the fourth spot while senior Joe Michalisin topped James Oliver, 6-2, 6-3 at fifth singles.

Lafayette posted victories at first and sixth singles. At the top spot, Doug Gallagher edged Dan Sauter, 7-6(6), 6-2. At No. 6 singles, Andrew Morris stopped Cameron Amyot, 6-1, 6-4. 

The Stags took all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Tesmond and Tioutine picked up an 8-4 win over Gallagher and Morris. At No. 2 doubles, Sauter and Zlobinsky nipped Mercorella and Goldstein, 8-6. At the third spot, Michalisin and Amyot teamed up to defeat Gelbman and Sihan Ipeken, 8-6. 

Fairfield (5-0) returns to action on March 2 when it travels to Big East foe St. John's University.
