MADISON, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams had a solid afternoon of competition at the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional at Hammonasset State Park. Sophomores
Connor Kelley and
Maureen Crimmins paced the Stags in an event co-hosted by Fairfield and Yale Universities.
Kelley traversed the men's 10K course in a personal best of 31:48.5 to place 68th overall. Junior
Howie Rosas was right behind Kelley, finishing in 32:17.8 which was good for a personal best. Junior
John Lobo also had a personal best with a time of 32:28.1 while senior
Kyle Short had a PR of 33:21.3. Senior
Greg Chase posted a time of 34:18.7, a personal best, while
Brian Cleary had a time of 34:45.1. Rounding out the group was senior
Dylan Fisher who had a personal best of 35:06.2.
Crimmins clocked a personal best of 22:23.4 in the women's 6K. Senior
Sam Goodnow was just seconds behind in a personal best of 22:30.7 while sophomore
Danielle Renzii had a personal best of 22:52.1.
Maggie MacKenzie had a PR of 23:08.7 while sophomore
Cate Forte inished in 23:20.8. Junior
Molly Leidig posted a time of 24:07.4, a personal best, while
Hillary Maxson rounded out the Stags in 24:23.2
The Fairfield men placed 24th overall, up one spot from last season. Iona College captured the men's team title while the Gaels' Mitch Goose was the individual champion in 30:04.4.
The Fairfield women placed 28th overall while Providence College was declared the women's team champions. Dartmouth's Abbey D'Agostina was the individual champion finishing in 19:51.1.
The Stags conclude their impressive 2012 campaign next weekend at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.
