Cross Country Co-Hosts NCAA Regionals On Friday Af

After a weeklong hiatus, the men's and women's cross country teams will jaunt up I-95 to Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Conn. for the 2012 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on November 9. The event is being co-hosted by Fairfield and Yale Universities. The women's 6K begins at 12pm followed by the men's 10K at 1:15pm.

Last season, Maureen Crimmins and Connor Kelley paced the women's and men's cross country teams at the 2011 NCAA Regional in Buffalo, N.Y. Crimmins clocked a 23:12.4 in the women's 6K to help the Stags improve five spots as Fairfield tied for 27th place with the University of Rhode Island. Kelley posted a time of 33:59.4 in the men's 10K to help the men's team to a 25th place finish, a jump of eight spots from one year ago.

Syracuse University repeated as the men's and women's NCAA Regional champions last season. Iona College's Leonard Korir captured the men's 10K individual title with a time of 31:10.4 while Dartmouth College's Abby D'Agostino captured the women's 6K individual title with a time of 20:25.3.

Fairfield and Yale Universities are co-hosting the NCAA Northeast Regionals for the second time in three years. The schools hosted the 2010 NCAA Regionals at Hammonasset Beach State Park.

The Stags will close out their 2012 campaign at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on November 17.
