LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Fairfield University men's cross country team saw two Stags earn conference honors as the squad placed fifth at the 2012 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Sophomore
Connor Kelley placed 13th overall with an 8K time of 25:14.37 while junior
Howie Rosas placed 15th overall with a time of 25:20.14. It is the first time that two Stags have been in the top-15.
Junior
John Lobo was the next Stag across the line in 25:52.47 while junior
Brian Cleary had a time of 26:14.40. Senior
Kyle Short crossed the line in 26:28.99 while sophomore
Jake Ruskan rounded out the Stags' top-seven with a time of 26:33.76.
Senior
Greg Chase posted a time of 26:50.38 while classmate
Matt Boley finished in 27:09.94. Freshman
Nick Carapezza clocked a 27:26.74 while sophomore
Kyle Wegner had a time of 27:34.07.
Freshman
Frank Segreto ran a time of 27:36.79 while senior
Dylan Fisher finished in 28:03.13. Senior
Ernie Lustenring finished with a time of 29:48.72.
Iona College repeated as MAAC Champions while the Gaels' Mitch Goose won the individual title in 24:08.08. Marist College was the runner-up while Rider University was third. Canisius College took fourth.
In addition, six Stags were selected to the MAAC All-Academic Team. Boley, Chase, Cleary, Kelley, Ruskan, and Short each earned the honor.

Fairfield returns to action on November 9 when the Stags co-host the 2012 NCAA Regionals at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Conn.
