Cross Country Set For MAAC Championships In Florid

The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams will head to Lake Buena Vista, Fla. for the 2012 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on October 27. The men's 8K is set for 8am followed by the women's 6K at 8:45am.

A Look Back at the 2011 MAAC Championship - Men: Last season at the MAAC Championships, the men's team placed fourth overall for the second consecutive season. Jake Ruskan earned All-MAAC honors after placing 15th overall with a time of 26:06.1, the time was the fastest-ever by a Stag at Van Cortlandt Park. It was the first time since 1996 in which the Stags had a runner earn All-MAAC honors; Ian MacNeill finished fifth at the MAAC Championships that season. Iona College captured the event with the Gaels' Leonard Korir winning the individual title.

A Look Back at the 2011 MAAC Championship - Women: Last season at the MAAC Championships, women's team finished sixth overall. Sam Goodnow was Fairfield's top-finisher placing 19th overall in a time of 22:55.5. Maureen Crimmins was close behind in a time of 23:09.9 to place 23rd overall. Iona College won the team title with its own Hollie Rowland winning the individual title.

Looking Ahead: Fairfield and Yale Universities will co-host the NCAA Northeast Regionals at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Conn. on November 9. The women's 6K will begin at 12pm followed by the men's 10K at 1:15pm. The two universities last co-hosted the event in 2010. The Stags will finish out the 2012 season at the ECAC/IC4A Championships on November 17 at Van Cortlandt Park.
