FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University field hockey team improves to 8-8 on the season after a 6-0 victory over Georgetown this afternoon. The Stags outshot the Hoyas, 27-3, not letting off one shot in the second half. Fairfield goalkeepers

Casey Heely earned a combined shutout, while freshmen forward
Kristian Stefanides posted two goals on the day.
The Stags controlled possession from the very start scoring what would be the game-winner at the 21:19 mark. Senior
Christy Starsinic scored five yards out on an assist from classmate
Molly Caffrey. Just six minutes later,
Kaitlyn Taddeo crossed the ball from the right side of the circle to Stefanides who shot the ball past Georgetown goalkeeper Briana Pereira to give the Stags the 2-0 lead going into the half.
Fairfield added to their lead in the 42nd minute after
Lindsey Hatch carried the ball up the field to shoot from eight yards out and garnered an unassisted goal. Freshman Taddeo put one in the net for her second goal of the season after receiving the rebound from a shot taken by Stefanides. With the 4-0 lead, junior
Nikki McLucas took advantage of another rebound adding one to the Stags' tally. Stefanides finished off the scoring at the 65:01 mark with an assist from
Hillary Fitts.
The Stags will host Vermont next weekend in their second to last conference game as they fight for the final spot in the America East conference tournament. The game will be held on University Field at 1p.m. On Sunday, the Stags will host both senior day and their annual Play 4 the Cure event as they play their final nonconference matchup against University of Pennsylvania at 1p.m.
