FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's tennis team swept MAAC opponent Rider University today in their 7-0 home court win.

The Stags owned their home court, while newcomers jumped into the scene.  Both Ian Tesmond and Cameron Amyot came away with their first Fairfield University dual victories.  Sophomore transfer Tesmond clinched his first Fairfield duals win in the No. 3 singles spot and the No. 1 doubles spot.  Tesmond paired with Dennis Zlobinsky to defeat Rider's Rollie Malfitano and John Spellman, 8-0.  Zlobinsky did not lose a game the entire day playing in both his doubles match and at No. 2 singles.  Freshman Amyot earned his first dual win of his college career today in a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 4 spot against Rider's Steve Brand.

Senior Joe Michalisin ended his day with two victories.  One at No. 2 doubles and the other at No. 1 singles, where he faced Malfitano defeating him 6-2, 6-1.  He is now one victory away from tying the all-time career wins record which is currently held by '10 graduate Ryan Berthod.  Also coming away with victories in singles are Reece Breault in the No. 5 spot and Bjorn Merinder in the six spot.

The Fairfield men are now 1-0 in the MAAC and will continue their play in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. at the USTA Invitational which starts this Friday, September 23 and runs throughout the weekend.
