FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University field hockey team looks to continue its three-game win streak on September 21 against Sacred Heart University at University Field. Game time is slated for 4 pm.
The Stags are now 5-2 on the season, all coming in non-confernece play. Freshman
Felicitas Heinen earned the America East Rookie of the Week honor for her performance at Lehigh University, scoring her first game winning goal. The Stag defense did not allow the Mountain Hawks a shot in the entire first half, as the team enjoyed a 12-0 shot advantage. Goalkeeper
Caitlin O'Donnell secured her second shutout of the season in the 2-0 victory over Lehigh and lowered her goals against average to 0.57 with an impressive .857 save percentage. Senior captain
Marit Westenberg continues to lead the team with 13 points, registering five goals and three assists.
Sacred Heart field hockey is currently 2-5 on the season, coming off a 9-1 road loss to Yale. The team's two wins included a win in the season opener against St. Louis and an overtime victory at Holy Cross. The team has scored a total of 14 goals on the season compared to their opposition's 33 goals. Junior Kate Boyd and freshman Sarah Bergman are the team's leaders with nine points, each scoring three goals and three assists.
