Cross Country Heads To NCAA Regionals On Saturday

After a weeklong hiatus, the men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Amherst, N.Y. for the 2011 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on November 12. The men's 10K begins at 12pm followed by the women's 6K at 1:15pm at the Audubon Golf Course.

Fairfield, which co-hosted the 2010 NCAA Regional with Yale University at Hammonasset State Park, had a solid effort at last year's event. Howie Rosas was Fairfield's top-finisher in the men's 10K while Caroline Riley was the first Stag across the line in the women's 6K. Rosas clocked a time of 33:19.5 in his first NCAA Regional. Riley, meanwhile, posted a time of 23:13.6.

The Fairfield men's team placed 33rd while the women's team finished 32nd. Syracuse University won both the men's and women's team competition.

The Stags will close out their 2011 campaign at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on November 10.
